John & William

John McCain said that Bill Clinton should negotiate peace in the mideast.

How do you bring these two sides together?

Historically, yes, the Palestinians were displaced when Israel was set up as a Jewish homeland by the UN, but, to be fair, the Jews lived there first, even more historically. Both have strong claims to the land as their homes.

Currently, Israel is bombing specific rooms of specific floors of specific buildings with the precision of a pizza delivery man, trying to do as much damage to Hamas as possible, because they have been bombarding Israel with rockets for at least 20 years. Israel is blowing up massive stockpiles of weapons that aren't designed with guidance systems, while Hamas is using human shields to guard them.

Of course, only few Palestinians support Hamas and not every Palestinian hates Jews.

The true victims here are the Palestinians, but importantly, I do not include members of Hamas in that population, because Hamas is so inured to the fight against Israel that they think they can dictate terms of a cease-fire. They either have lost their mind, have terribly inaccurate operational information and live in bunkers far away from the action, or seek a speedy martyrdom.

Bush tried. I know about Bill, I grew up watching him. I think the reason he has such mystique is that he only ever gets involved in fights he knows 100% he will win.

Given that the only solution to the mideast problem may be the isolation and ostricization of the Palestinian militants and the absorption of Palestine into Israel as a single-state solution, I'm thinking Bill will say something along the lines of "Thanks, but no."

Transracial Society

"The GOP can't win without the support of minorities" this is the narrative. The question coming from that is, how can they attract people who vote democrat?

The answer is, they can't.

Their party isn't based on race, it's based on ideology. Sure, there's a large overlap between the two, but fundamentally, it's their ideology that's turning people off to them.

It just so happens that their ideology stems from an earlier time (which is what they want to "conserve") where race actually did matter, to the point where you were black if you had 1/32nd African ancestry.

This is a transracial problem; we exist right now in the grey area between the racial and the postracial societies. The foundation of conservative ideology is a relic of the racial society, and republicans are beginning to understand that there is no way that they can win in a postracial society, but they can't understand why. The GOP is aging, beginning to die out, and eventually the Democrats will split into two new parties. For a time, we will see 3 major parties in the US, but over time it will decay back into a 2-party system.

We are living in the transracial era.
